Stars over Texas queen size quilt
I found my inspiration for the front of the quilt from an old pieced quilt block called 'Seven Sisters'. This traditional old block is stunning, but rare to find, because of the complexity of piecing the block together. I recreated the block into a much larger size, and easier format and the result was perfect. I gathered a collection of prints to create the pieced quilt, where each of the 338 triangles was carefully hand cut. The rows of triangles were diagonally sewn together at a 30-degree angle to form the finished quilt top.
To create the quilt, we chose a collection of our favorite blue, teal, and green prints. The fabrics used on the front of the quilt were chosen to work perfectly with the elegantly modern fabric on the back of the quilt. The stars stretch from edge to edge of the quilt, and it is finished with a dark binding.
The quilt is queen-sized, and has a finished dimension of 90" x 105". It will fit perfectly onto a queen bed, or it can be turned to fit along a king-size bed, with a footboard. (Please measure your bed to see where the quilt will drop.)
One of the finishing touches to this quilt was the hand-guided machine quilting. It has been expertly done, and not only does it add beauty to the project, it also ensures strong durability for the quilt. A feathered leaf is stitched into each star, and the background has a calm swirling design.
For the best care of the quilt, machine wash on gentle in cool water. If it is possible hang the quilt to dry. Or it can be put into the dryer, until damp dry, and then laid flat to dry completely.
